Our client who are a multi-office solicitors practice are looking for an Associate Solicitor to join their Commercial department. We are looking to speak to experienced solicitors that are 5+ years PQE and someone with great ambition and drive.
Job purpose:
- To run own caseload
- To assist other fee earners with their cases
- To assist the head of property in establishing scales of efficiency
- To contribute to the effective operation of the firm
- To actively develop new sources of potential income streams for the department
General responsibilities:
- Manage own caseload
- Maintain a watching brief over the other fee earners’ files when they are on holiday, sick, etc.
- Ensure that diary dates are observed
- Meet the relevant quality and professional standards
- Proactively build and grow the department
- Actively develop new sources of potential income streams
- Promoting a positive working environment within the firm
- Marketing and promoting the firm and its service offerings
- Undertaking research on developing areas of law and procedures to remain up to date on key issues
- Maintaining training and development requirements as expected by the firm
Tasks:
- General administrative tasks in relation to individual file management
- Attending clients, taking instructions
- Writing letters and emails
- Progressing legal due diligence process
- Conducting searches and investigating the title
- Communicating with other parties involved in the transaction
- Reporting to clients
- Billing
- Producing precedents, template documents and other processes to enable the department to be run efficiently
- Producing articles for the website on property law issues on a regular basis
- Attending networking events
- Utilising social media frequently, in particular LinkedIn and Twitter, to promote the firm and its service offerings
- Running and/or assisting in the running of stalls, trade shows or other events of a similar nature.

Person specification – Skills, knowledge and experience required
- Practising certificate
- Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as a Corporate Commercial Solicitor
- Experience of dealing with mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, corporate transaction work, Directors and Shareholders rights, corporate finance, multifaceted and complex transactions and joint ventures.
- Experience of handling a high volume of transactions at any one time
- Exemplary knowledge of business law, current trends, and legislative and regulatory developments
- Ability to build up a familiarity with corporate and business law in all types of industry, where clients have operations or are looking to invest
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent academic background
